[ it's a few days after their trip to the hot springs, and leia has come down with a cold— it's nothing serious, just sniffling and sneezing, the occasional headache, and a slightly-higher-than-normal temperature— but considering all of the good things that the trip brought, it's a small price to pay. resolving the problems she had with alvin and taking the first (admittedly really big) step toward having a relationship together was probably worth a few days of feeling less than stellar.

especially since she can bug him without feeling too terribly guilty, since she's not just his friend anymore. that's still a really novel idea, given that this is her first real relationship, and she... may or may not have been taking advantage of that by talking to him a little more than usual. it's nothing too ridiculous— since she's sick and she can't drop by his place and bother him in-person, she's just been sending more texts and calls than usual his way— but still. considering how bad things had been between them before the trip, being able to talk to him freely feels pretty nice.

it's also something she does when she's starting to feel a little stir crazy from being cooped up inside. it's only day two of her cold, but calling into work sick and not having anything to do gets old fast for someone like her; she's quick to get restless. she's already jotted down some ideas for her next big article and talked to all of their friends about her new relationship (elize and elle wanted details, specifically). she's watched all of the shows she's behind on, done some light cleaning— which was probably a mistake, since it leaves her feeling worse than before— and now she's lounging around in bed, wrapped up in blankets and surrounded by a small army of pillows and stuffed animals.

so, naturally, she texts alvin. she'd call him, but it's closer to the middle of the day than the evening, and she's not sure if he's busy with work, so... it's probably better to play it safe. ]

I'd hope not, but I wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way around.

[As in, her getting that mad at him. He's kind of kidding, but, well. He hasn't set very good precedents, that's for sure.]

I dunno... I might get kind of ticked off if you ate something I was saving for a special occasion or if you told me an outfit made me look fat or something, but I can't think of anything that would seriously make me mad.

[ of course, she's also assuming that he learned his lesson after all of the trouble they went through to even start their relationship. ]

I guess if you hid something big from me I'd probably wanna yell at you, though.

Well I already made the general promise of not keeping anymore big secrets, so I guess that goes double for you now.

[The only secrets he'll keep are the ones he would tell her eventually. Like surprises. Or something. ...And still things about himself, but those are natural secrets that everyone has. Just definitely any that would be harmful or detrimental to themselves.]

Heck yeah it does! And... well, I don't think I'm that great at keeping secrets, anyway, but I'll try not to keep any from you, either.

[ ... anything embarrassing will definitely stay secret, since she doesn't want to be teased until the end of the universe, though. ]

[ watch as she ruins the vaguely touching atmosphere with one of her typical outbursts. ]

Then it's settled. If you hide anything big from me, I'll kick your butt into next week!

[ and now she's going to settle back in against him. she even goes as far as tugging the blankets around a little so that she's at least partially under them— if he wants some, he'll probably need to wrestle them from her. ]

Now, let's get some rest, all right?

[ since that was kind of the plan when she first laid down. they just got... a little side tracked. oops. ]

...Man, he's actually wearing clothes. He's a guy, he doesn't need covers at this rate, especially in this cramped bed and with her cuddling so close to him.]

Besides, does it really matter if it took us a little while to get to this point? The important part is that we're settling down now!
