[ after entering their room, leia's first order of business had been to take a bath. the food and medicine would probably be ready by the time she was done and, after such a long day, a nice, long soak sounded pretty appealing. so, she had gathered up her pajamas (because screw rpg logic that says they wear their default outfits to bed) and headed for the bathroom— but not without calling a warning to not peek over her shoulder as she went.
her bath wasn't too long, all things considered, but she had been right about their order being ready by the time she was done. it wasn't until she started eating that she realized how hungry she actually was, though, and she was pretty quiet while they ate as a result. there might've been a little bit of joking back and forth, of course, but her focus had been on the food in front of her. she even managed to take the medicine without too much complaint (though she had definitely made it known that she wasn't a fan of how it tasted).
and by the time all of that is over and they're both done with anything else that might need to be tended to, she's actually feeling a little bit better. her fever is still there and she's still feeling weaker than usual, but she's also more comfortable and ready to settle in for some well-deserved relaxation. the room's cozy atmosphere definitely lends itself to that, especially now that the noise from the festival has completely faded away for the night, anyway.
if she was roomed with milla and elize like old times, this would probably be when she would try to spark up some girl talk, and while alvin probably isn't suited for that, that doesn't mean that they can't talk at all. so, she scoots to the edge of the bed, letting her legs dangle over it, and pats the spot beside her. ]
Wanna come sit?

anyway, she's quick to reach out, grabbing his hand as she sits back up. ]
Hey, wait! [ and she tugs on his hand a little, like she's trying to pull him back down to the bed. ] I wasn't done. I was kind of hoping for another story.
no subject
What are you, a spoiled kid wanting a bedtime story?
no subject
[ she settles back down, but she's not going to let go of his hand just yet. she doesn't trust that he won't get up and leave if she does. ]
It's not a crime to be interested in what you have to say, is it?
no subject
It is when you're clearly taking advantage of being sick and making me pity you.
[joking of course.]
But all right, fine, fine. What kind of story do you want now?
no subject
I didn't think that far ahead. [ and that's actually a hard question to answer, anyway— he didn't seem to have too many happy stories and, as much as she doesn't mind the more serious ones, she doesn't want to push him too hard. so, she takes a minute to think. ]
Are there any stories that you really like telling?
no subject
I can think of a few "on the job" stories, at least the cooler ones, anyway. There's a pretty good one that involves Orda Palace.
no subject
[ she says that last bit through a yawn, and then grins at him. ]
no subject
[he leans back a bit so that he's sitting more against the bed's headrest.]
This was back when I was working for Rashugal's Intelligence Unit—and of course spying for Exodus. This was also before I met Presa. [his tone stays even as he continues.]
I was kind of the newbie on the force and there was a little bit of hazing ceremony for me. I was told to infiltrate Orda Palace, listen in on the chancellors, and come back with certain information. Nothing too scandalous, but it was a pretty risky dare.
no subject
[ while she's definitely listening as best as she can, she's actually starting to look tired, in addition to her occasional yawns. still, she tries to keep her attention focused on him. ]
So, did you get caught in the act, or something?
[ also should she doze off while he's telling the story, because i'm thinking she should doze off while he's telling the story— ]
no subject
[it's okay, because he's actually going to deliberately aid her to sleep. like so.]
I just posed as one of the servants—had little maid to help me. Here's some of the juicy information that I heard while doing this little task.
[and he proceeds to start talking about completely dry and boring political crap. she said not to skimp on the details. and as he's talking, he definitely has one eye on her. he had noticed those yawns so now he's just waiting for her to actually drop asleep.]
should we timeskip after your tag? :o
every so often, her eyes snap open and she tries to play it off, making a noise of agreement or nodding along with whatever he happens to be saying. she does this for a little while, because she's determined to see the story through to the end, but it eventually proves to be too much. she falls asleep, burying her face in her pillow and loosening her grip on his hand just slightly, but not letting go completely. so, unless he wants to pull away and risk waking her up, he's trapped. ]
yep yep go for it :D
Spoiled brat.
[he says this lightly as he reaches over with his free hand and brushes back a strand of her hair, idly noting how long it is as he gently checks for her fever. it really is kind of strange to see it so long. though he does have to admit it looks good on her and she does look pretty cute right now. to think that just a little over a year ago this would have been impossible to imagine, especially what happened back in Hamil. it's a good feeling. surprisingly good.
so he sits there for some time, softly humming
the Hymn of Proofa random tune, not noticing as his thumb lightly circles her finger as his thoughts drift to the day and of other things. of Xiand Du. of past memories.eventually he'll doze off, and at some point he'll have shifted himself so that he's less sitting and actually lying down alongside her. it's cold, of course his body will naturally want to be closer to another source of warmth.]
yells... they're so cute
when she does wake up, it takes her a while to will herself to get up. as she lays there, eyes still closed, she notices that she feels better than she did last night, but her limbs feel heavy and she feels groggy. so, she squeezes her eyes shut and tries to roll over, probably in an attempt to get a little more sleep, which... causes her to bump right into alvin's side.
she vaguely remembers that he was telling her a story when she dozed off, but she clearly wasn't expecting to wake up beside him, because when she opens her eyes and sees him laying there, the expression written on her face is nothing short of complete shock. ]
Alvin?! What are you doing?
[ her voice is scratchy from sleep and her throat is a little sore, but she's definitely. kind of. yelling. ]
i knooooooww /)////(\
Huh—wha—
[he turns to look at her and—wait.
oh. snap—
they're also still holding hands WELL. he's quickly letting go as it all comes back in a flash and he instantly jerks backwards.]
Whoa, now I can expla—
[except jerking back might not have been the best idea. he had already been on the edge of the bed and this thing is already small to begin with. he had barely managed to fit on there. so when he does that sudden movement, he actually slips off the edge and crashes to the floor.]
no subject
Yeah, you'd better be able to explain! [ her voice is quieter than before, but she sounds mad instead of just surprised now. ] What the heck were you doing in my bed?
no subject
[owww.]
no subject
[ he's lucky she's not mad enough to chuck a pillow at him. ]
no subject
It's not like I actually wanted to sleep with you. I was waiting to see if your grip would loosen and I must have dozed off.
no subject
[ ... even if she had felt pretty content before she drifted off.
and she scoots back from the edge of the bed so that she can sit up properly, with her back to the headboard. ]
no subject
Could have fooled me with how clingy you were.
[now standing, he moves to start getting ready.]
no subject
[ she makes a point not to look at him once he gets up, but after a short bout of silence, she finally speaks up again, picking at a loose thread in the sheets as she does. ]
... did you hurt yourself when you fell?
[ because even if she's still a little annoyed, she feels bad for not asking already. ]
no subject
[said dryly.
but then he just sighs.]
No, I'm fine. And I'm guessing you're feeling better if you have that much energy.
[what a way to start the morning. okay so yes it had been pretty shocking, but come on! like he would do anything—
wait is that really why he's annoyed that she got so mad and accusatory at him? does he feel offended? haha, Alvin how cute.]
no subject
Yeah, I feel a lot better now.
[ she does sound congested, though, and if he tries checking her temperature, she'll still be warmer than usual. so, her cold is definitely still a thing. ]
I guess that means you're getting out of taking care of me, huh?
[ which is fine, because it's not like she liked that in any way, shape, or form. nope. ]
no subject
Probably, unless I have to.
[after another moment, he half turns to look at her.]
How's your fever?
no subject
[ she lifts a hand to press the inside of her wrist to her forehead, and... that's not working out for her so well. ]
I think I'm gonna need your help with this one.
