[if there was one thing Elympions were really adept at, it was creating highly technological constructions and living the "high life" so to speak. after the schism dropped, this only increased due to the access to additional, if currently expensive, resources. and with Rieze Maxia also being rich with resources and willing to increase the economy, coordinating to create a fun place where both citizens could enjoy was easier than expected. had a few bumps along the way, of course, including whether the location would adversely affect the neighboring towns, but after several months of planning and clearing out the monsters, a large portion of the Kijara Seafalls had been converted to something like a water park resort. using the natural formations already existing, including the many waterfalls, the company in charge of this endeavor managed to recreate the setting to include natural made water slides and of course the many variety of natural and artificial pools—casual ones to just sit and relax, larger ones to just swim around, wave pools, and even a section for some heated ones.

technology wise, it's a combination of spirit artes, spyrix, and spyrites. the use of spyrix had been as minimal as possible, but their world isn't quite there with replacing it with spyrite. however, it has been designed so that the conversion would be seamless, and it helps that the park is indeed mostly naturally made.

so during the following summer of their last adventure, Alvin had received two tickets to its opening. a gift for being a Svent. although he isn't really "part of the family" anymore, he can't exactly say he didn't like the few perks that come his way. free gifts definitely were one of them. now the problem is...would he actually go? If so, who would he ask? or should he just give them both away? but even with those questions, he was already thinking, "Leia would probably kill to have these." and well, that made his decision for him.

and so invite her he did and here they are at the Kijara Seafalls Resort. the opening ceremony had been a "splashing" hit and the place is packed with a variety of people from esteemed invited guests to those who managed to purchase tickets to every day families who won the lottery prize. and a lot of kids. a lot of kids.

and like everyone else, he's dressed in casual swimming shorts, sandals, sunglasses, and a loose unbuttoned shirt.]

Well the lines are going to be insane, I can tell you that much. So what should we try out first?

That confident, huh. [well they are near one of the pools...]

All right, fine, it's a bet. Been wanting to stretch out my muscles a bit, anyway. One lap around the pool with everyone in it as obstacles.

All right, awesome! [ and she sticks her hand out toward him. ] Let's shake on it!

[pffft.]

Going the whole way, I see. [but he takes her hand and gives her a firm shake.]

Let's find a place to put our stuff.

[ and she's going to lead the way toward the poolside tables, pick an empty one, and turn to him. ]

This should work, shouldn't it?

Yep, perfect. And the race starts... [and setting his stuff down...] Now. [aannnd HE'S OFF.]

Hey, that's cheating!

[ but she drops her things and takes off after him nonetheless. luckily, she reacted quickly enough that she's able to keep up pretty well, and— into the water she goes. ]

[seriously who's the kid here? but he's diving into the water and charging through the water. although it's not completely full, there quite a few people in there, so the human obstacles aspect is actually making it a bit more difficult.]

[ he is. he's definitely the kid.

and the people who are in the pool definitely make it into more of a challenge than it would be if it were empty— she almost collides with someone who's wading around when she first gets in, but once she gets going, she manages to cut through the water pretty quickly. she's fast by nature and she's a pretty strong swimmer to boot, so she's actually feeling confident about her chances, especially as she closes in on what she's pretty sure would count as the final stretch. ]

[although he has the muscle, being larger does have the disadvantages in trying to swim around other people and not collide into smaller kids. he even has to break stride when someone jumps in front of him, which would definitely give Leia the lead she needs.]

[ and she takes advantage of that, pushing herself harder until she can reach out and get a hand on the edge of the pool— that was definitely a full lap, so she whirls around with a wide grin on her face. ]

I win!

[ she sounds pretty proud of herself. ]

[OFF BY LIKE FIVE SECONDS.]

Aaah, dammit!

[and trying to catch his breath because phew he tried to put on a burst of speed but it wasn't enough, sadly.]

I call for a rematch.

Nope, that wasn't part of the bet! I won fair and square.

[ and that's the end of that, because she starts to pull herself out of the water. ]

[and you know what he does?

the most mature thing in the world.

pulls her back in the water.]

Whoops, my hand slipped when I was reaching for the ledge.

[ she's also probably five, because she's going to just. splash him. as payback. ]

Maybe. [a small laugh as he raises a hand to shield himself.

and then he notices the looks from nearby staff. uh. okay.]

But you're right, you won and I owe you a story.

All right!

[ she's going to pull herself out of the pool for real this time. ]

Go ahead and lay it on me.

What, you think I'm going to tell you right here and now? Nah, I'm saving it for dinner.

Aw, okay. I guess that's fair.

[ this probably isn't the best time for a story, anyway. ]
